East Longmeadow Navigators 6 – Yankee Sheet Metal 5

There was a playoff atmosphere all night as two tough teams squared off at South Hadley High School Wednesday, where the East Longmeadow Navigators pulled off a 6-5 win.
The Navs jumped to an early 3 run lead in the 3rd on a long Steve Lagasse 2-RBI double and Karl Oliviera’s sac fly that scored Brian Allen.
Yankee Sheet Metal answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning before taking the lead in the 5th as Mario Olivera crushed a long double to right to score 2 runs, followed by a sac fly by Eric Robert.
East Longmeadow rallied in the 6th to score 3 on RBI hits by Axel Ofrey, Brian Allen, and Ryan Beturne, making the score 6-4 Navs.
Steve Lagasse came in to close out the game in the 6th and gave up a long triple by Jack Moskal, who later scored on a ground out to make it 6-5, but Lagasse was able to settle in and get the last 6 outs to secure the win for the Navigators.
Yankee Sheet Metal starter Billy Lamirande pitched great and Eric Robert was stellar behind the plate in the loss.
Alex Tajima started for the Navs and pitched 3 1/3 of nearly perfect ball, allowing only 1 unearned run.
